Welcome to Team Equinox!
July 24, 2020
Dear Equinox Students and Families,
We are very excited to welcome you back to the school building for 8th grade.
The unique challenges of the ongoing pandemic will certainly continue into this school year, but we are determined to provide you with the educational and emotional support you need in order to persevere. We look forward to a productive start to our eighth grade year together!
We, the Equinox Teachers, are planning a flexible, engaging and rigorous curriculum for the year.
In a typical 8th grade year, we focus on leading by example. This year, though different, will be no exception. We will continue to cultivate a strong sense of community, based on respect and relationships, and develop lifelong leadership skills.
We will continue to use Google Classroom for in person and online learning. We encourage you to check-in frequently with your student around their class assignments and grades.
We plan to communicate with families via a monthly emailed newsletter outlining information about each subject area, as well as the latest Team Equinox happenings.
Let us know if you would like a printed version of the newsletter.
Also, be sure to see this year’s school supply list below! We look forward to a successful school year.

2020 School Supplies
In light of the pandemic, we want to minimize the amount of supplies that students share while in the building. Also keep in mind that the district will have a no locker use policy for the school year, so a bag or backpack on in-person learning days. The following list is what we are recommending that students bring in order to be prepared for in school learning.
- Blue or black inked pens
- Lined Paper
- Math Binder (1 ½” with 5 dividers) (can reuse your previous one)
- “Take Home” Folder
- A case or pouch to hold extra pencils, pens, etc.
- Scientific Calculator
- A box of tissues to donate to your homeroom teacher (you will thank us later)
