The Essex High School Environmental Club`™s general mission is to: instill a sense of environmental stewardship within our peers and community and to promote/educate waste reduction, reusing, recycling, composting, energy efficiency, and responsible us of available resources.
Our club is focused on two main things: implementation and practice of good environmental virtues and outreach to the school and local community to educate about these things. In the few years that the club has been active at EHS we have achieved quite a few things. Perhaps the greatest of these accomplishments is getting composting in the school cafeteria, a feat we took on and completed last year. We also have many annual events that we host such as the Fair Trade Cafe, America Recycles Day, and many more. Our purpose is to help ease the stress on the environment by maintaining and promoting the recycling program at Essex High School. We want to make a positive impact on the school and environment.
Founded in September 2008, the club has many feats to date which include:
- Trash On Lawn Day
- Fair Trade Cafe
- Kick the Bottle Campaign
- Recycle Bank Program
- Rain Garden
- Composting in the EHS cafeteria
- American Recycles Week
- Flick Off
- Solar Energy Promotion and many more
Club meetings are weekly, on Wednesday at 2:40 in room C204. New members are always welcome!
