The "Cardboard Teck Instantute"  visited EES Jan 8th-Jan 12th!  Journey Blain, the EES art teacher, applied for a Vermont Arts Council grant and Carol Scrimgeour, the librarian received a PTO grant to help bring the amazing Ben T. Matchstick to our school.  With two assemblies and an art class with Ben, students learned about STEAM approaches to design.  They dreamed, designed, and did prototyping to create thematic marble mazes.  Students learned about the versatility of cardboard and got to try out the PinBox 3,000.  Ben T. Matchstick gave our second grade classrooms a PinBox to design and play. This was a great artistic adventure in problem solving and creating!
If anyone at our EES community is interested in getting their very own PinBox3,000 to assemble they can get 20% off at pinbox3000.com when you use this code at checkout:

The students worked together to make homemade applesauce yesterday!  We used the apples that we picked at Chapin Apple Orchard.  The children peeled and chopped the apples, added in the extra ingredients, and took turns mixing.  They were all very excited to try the applesauce today during snack.  Ask your child to tell you if he/liked liked it.
