    HUMANITIES DESCRIPTION:

    In this class we will integrate language arts with social studies content to help students develop their reading, writing, speaking and listening skills. The two courses of study will be Ancient Civilizations and US History. These courses will switch each year. 

     

    COURSES:

    U.S HISTORY: INDEPENDENCE TO CIVIL WAR

    Course Description:

    In this course we will examine the birth of America as a nation following the onset of the American Revolution through the Constitutional eras. Students will study the various consequences of the Revolutionary War, including the writing and birth of the U.S Constitution. From here, we will examine the basic framework of American democracy and government including federalism, separation of powers, and individual rights. Students will also study the early geographic, political, and social changes occurring within the country. Lastly, students will learn about the development of sectional conflict, how this conflict led to the Civil War, and the consequences that ultimately established a more unified country. Throughout each unit, we will incorporate in current events and literature while focusing on improving the many parts of reading, writing, speaking, and listening.

    UNIT 3: EMERGING AMERICAN REGIONS

    UNIT 4: CIVIL WAR 

     

    ANCIENT CIVILIZATIONS 

    Course Description:

    In this course we will study the development of civilizations from the earliest people to Rome as a world power. Students will understand what elements make a civilization, and how and why different civilizations have thrived throughout history. We will examine the early Middle Eastern societies within the Fertile Crescent, Asian civilizations and the rise of the West. Throughout each unit, we will incorporate in current events and literature while focusing on improving the many parts of reading, writing, speaking, and listening.

    UNIT 2: MIDDLE EASTERN CIVILIZATIONS

    UNIT 3: ASIAN CIVILIZATIONS

    UNIT 4: RISE OF THE WEST

    UNIT 5: ROMAN EMPIRE
