  • Heavenly Food Pantry Update

Posted by Ben Dickie on 5/7/2020

Residents of Essex, Essex Junction and Westford are welcome to visit the Heavenly Food Pantry, located at the First Congregational Church on Main Street in Essex Junction, on Monday, May 11, from 5:30-7:30 p.m.  to receive food assistance.

This will be a “drive up” distribution, where families will enter at the Church Street entrance and will be directed to a pickup spot in the church parking lot. Families are asked to provide proof of residence in the form of a bill with the current physical address listed, as well as identification for every member of the family, including children.

Food distributions will be held twice a month, on the second Monday from 5:30-7:30 p.m. as well as the fourth Thursday, from 2:00-6:00 p.m. All families are welcome to visit each time the pantry is open. Please follow current CDC guidelines by wearing face coverings and remaining in your vehicles while volunteers load food in the trunk. This will help keep you and our volunteers safe during this critical time.

The Heavenly Food Pantry welcomes food donations by depositing them in the bin outside the Church Street office door at any time or inside the office door Tuesday-Friday from 9 a.m. to noon. Items currently needed include canned chicken noodle soup, corn and peas as well as jam or jelly and cereal. Cash donations can be sent to the First Congregational Church at 1 Church Street in Essex Junction with “food pantry” written on the memo line.

At this time, we would like to thank those who have helped the pantry continue its mission of feeding the community around us.

Those needing food assistance but unable to visit the pantry are able to call the church office at 878-5745 to make other arrangements.
