Global Citizenship/Social Studies

  • Global Citizenship/Social Studies

Per Vermont Education Quality Standard 2120.5, “each school shall enable students to engage annually in rigorous, relevant and comprehensive learning opportunities that allow them to demonstrate proficiency in global citizenship (including the concepts of civics, economics, geography, world language, cultural studies and history)”.

Social Studies and World Languages are content areas within Global Citizenship.

In the Essex Westford School District, our teachers use the Common Core State Standards as the foundation for our guaranteed and viable curriculum. From the common core and The College, Career, and Civic Life (C3) Framework for Social Studies State Standards, teachers work collaboratively to establish essential standards in these areas.
