05.09.22 Rise in Positive COVID-19 Cases at ADL (6th Grade)
The ADL Health Office has noted an increase in positive COVID-19 cases in sixth grade recently.
While there can be many reasons for this increase, our focus should be on what we can do and the tools we have to protect ourselves. During this time we need to remember to:
- Stay home when ill
- The Omicron COVID variant can look like allergies, a minor cold, or can be a bigger illness so please test when you have any symptoms, are a close contact, or are simply concerned
- Wear a mask when around others and especially if you have any symptoms
The Health Office is here to assist. We can:
- Provide masks to students and staff
- Provide rapid tests on-site and for home use as well as LAMP PCR tests
- Provide consultation for your concerns
Thank you,
ADL Health Office

05.02.22 EWSD COVID-19 Update
With the number of COVID-19 cases increasing again across the state, the EWSD is encouraging students and staff to wear a mask, but not requiring it. As a community, we must respect each individual's choice as they weigh their own personal level of risk.
EWSD school nurses will continue to conduct diagnostic testing in school using LAMP or antigen tests. Take-home antigen (rapid) tests are still available to students, staff, and their households on an as-needed basis or at the clinical discretion of the school nurse, consistent with Health Department guidance. Please contact your school nurse if you need test kits for home use.
We also have KN95 masks available by request. Students and staff are always welcome to wear a mask at school.
Please remember that the most important thing you can do is to stay home when experiencing any symptoms. We are moving into allergy season. If your child has seasonal allergies that show symptoms that could be consistent with symptoms of COVID, please provide a note from your child's healthcare provider.
Thank you for all you do to help keep our school community healthy.
With gratitude,
Beth Cobb
EWSD Superintendent

04.14.22 EWSD COVID-19 Update
As we see a rise in COVID-19 cases across our EWSD community, both in school and across our area, we would like to provide you with information for self-care going into April break.
Please monitor for symptoms of COVID-19, regardless of vaccination status. Symptoms include: fever, headache, chills, body/muscle aches, cough, runny nose, loss of taste and/or smell, shortness of breath, and sore throat. A person may also experience nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.
If you or anyone in your family starts to feel sick, it is recommended that you test for COVID-19. Testing locations and other information can be found here. Additionally, test kits are available at each school before break and when we return to school after break. They can be accessed by contacting the health office.
If you or your student tests positive for COVID-19, you should stay home for five days. After break, your student may return to school if their symptoms have improved and they have been fever-free for at least 24 hours without the use of medicine that reduces fevers. You may want to consider contacting your healthcare provider to see if additional treatment for COVID-19 is recommended.
Here are some ways to keep your family and others healthy during this time:
- Stay up to date on COVID-19 vaccinations
- Get a test for COVID-19 when symptoms occur
- Stay home if you are sick
- Cover your cough and sneezes
- Wash hands
- Consider masking in indoor spaces, especially if someone you spend time with is immunocompromised or is more likely to get very sick with COVID-19
For more information on COVID-19, contact the Vermont Department of Health at 802-863-7240.
