Learning Design

  • The Essex Westford School District supports the development of the Vermont Education Quality Standards* to create a meaningful educational path for all students.  This includes the use of Learning Design to enhance and create instructional experiences that offer students a personalized pathway to college and career readiness.

The Education Quality Standards requires that our curriculum and instruction offer:

    • Instructional Practices
    • Flexible Pathways
    • Career and Technological
    • Personalized Learning Plans
    • Curriculum Content
    • Curriculum Coordination
    • Graduation Requirements
    • Local Graduation Requirements

Learning Design describes the educational process, not just courseware but the whole teaching/learning experience. Learning Design refers to the ability to create units of study for and with students to allow students to achieve their personal and academic goals.  The use of flexible pathways and personalized learning plans support this type of educational process.  The Essex Westford School District has determined that this type of learning is important for all students as we support their work to become ready for college, a career, and citizenship.
