Employee Benefits Summary

  • EWSD offers a competitive benefits package for employees!

    Employees may be eligible for the following benefits.* Please refer to the corresponding collective bargaining agreement and/or individual employment contract for additional eligibility details.  

    • Medical Insurance - Medical insurance is provided through VEHI and administered by Blue Cross Blue Shield of VT for regular employees working 17.5 hours or more per week.  Available plan choices and additional information can be found on the VEHI website. 
      • Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) - All employees are eligible to contribute to a dependent care FSA. Some employees eligible for medical insurance under the district's plan may also be eligible to participate in a healthcare flexible spending account.
      • Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) or Health Savings Account (HSA) - The HRA is available to employees who choose to participate in a VEHI Medical Plan. The HSA is only available to be paired with the Silver CDHP plan.

    • Dental Insurance - EWSD offers a self-insured dental program that is administered by Northeast Delta Dental to full-time and some eligible part-time employees.
    • Life Insurance - Group Term life insurance is available to eligible full-time employees.
    • Long Term Disability Insurance (LTD) - LTD benefits are provided for eligible employees.
    • Retirement Savings - Provided through the Vermont State Teacher Retirement Services, EWSD also offers 403b and 457 retirement plan options for employees to save for retirement.
    • Leave Benefits - Eligible employees receive generous paid leave benefits from the district such as sick, family, personal, and bereavement leave.  Paid vacation and holidays are also available to select groups of employees.  Please refer to the corresponding master agreement for more information about the leave benefits available.
    • Professional Development Funds (Tuition Reimbursement) - Eligible EWSD employees have access to funds to increase their knowledge and professional growth. Please refer to the corresponding master agreement for more information about the benefit amount, covered expenses, requirements and other limitations.
    • Insurance Continuation (COBRA) - Under federal COBRA regulations, employees and their covered dependents have the right to continue medical/dental coverage under the employer’s group plan at their own expense for a limited period following a "qualifying event". Additional information is available using the link above.

    The following additional benefits are provided to all regular full-time or part-time employees of the district:

    • Wellness Benefits - EWSD offers a variety of Healthy lifestyle incentives for employees.  These include, but are not limited to, discounts at fitness centers, fitness facilities on campus, ski area discounts, and access to an Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
    • Employee Discounts - Employees of the EWSD are eligible for a number of cooporate discounts just for being an employee of the district.  Participating companies include Verizon and AT&T.
