2nd and 3rd Grade

  • Lindy JohnsonLindy Johnson - 2nd Grade Literacy

Hi, my name is Lindy Johnson and I have been an educator for a VERY long time! I have not been a classroom teacher for several years but have been working with elementary children in my capacity as a literacy specialist. I am an educator because no two days are ever the same and I enjoy that variety. Teaching remotely will have its challenges as well as many rewards. I hope to find the rewards and build on them.

I love teaching reading and writing and hope to instill a love of both in the children I work with. There is nothing better than getting lost in a story whether you are reading it, telling it, or writing it. I have my master’s degree in reading and have worked at the school, district, and state level teaching and learning the most effective ways to ensure children learn and are successful in school. This is my first year in EWSD and I’m very happy to be here.
I live in East Montpelier with my husband and two cats. Our two sons are in their 20s and living and working away from home. One is in Burlington and the other is in Redmond, Washington.

Bridget Bellizia Bridget Bellizia - 2nd Grade Math

Hi! I'm Bridget Bellizia! I am SO excited to be working with second grade students this year!

I am new to the Essex Westford School District this year, but have taught various grade levels for more than 20 years in public and private school settings.
For the past decade, I worked as a fourth grade teacher at Cambridge Elementary School.  I especially love to teach Math! In 2018, I received my Masters of Science for Teaching from the Vermont Mathematics Initiative through U.V.M..
I loved this program and enjoyed having a chance to hone my teaching skills as a math and reading interventionist during the 2019-20 school year, switching to teaching remotely in the spring.
This year I will begin the school year as the remote second grade math teacher in the mornings and finish off the school day as the second grade math coach in the afternoons!
When I'm not teaching I love to hike, do yoga, ski and paddle board with my husband and two teenage kids. I also love animals and can’t wait to share some funny stories about my 8 chickens and two black labs, Angus and new puppy, Rosie!

Denise Lynch - 3rd Grade Literacy

My name is Denise Lynch and although this is my first year at EWSD, I have been a teacher for 20 years. During that time I have been a librarian, reading interventionist, a co-teacher and a 3rd grade classroom teacher.

I am passionate about teaching and supporting my colleagues as educators. I feel fortunate to have my dream job as both a teacher and a literacy coach this year! There is a special joy for me when I see the love of reading and learning flourish in students.

Although this school year presents many challenges, I look forward to connecting with students, teachers, and community members to help us all find the silver linings during this challenging time.

When I am not teaching you can find me lost in a good book. I also enjoy gardening, mountain biking, snowboarding and spending time with my husband, 2 boys and sweet dog.

DinahMacy Dinah Macy - 3rd Grade Math

Hi! My name is Dinah, and I'm really excited to start this virtual adventure together. I have been teaching kindergarten, and first grades in the Boston area the last five years, and I LOVE to learn! I currently reside in Boston with my partner, and our tuxedo cat, and turtle.

When I'm not in the classroom, I like to run, experiment with new recipes, and spend time outside.

What to Expect with SeeSaw

  • All students will have a synchronus lesson at a common time in the morning. Synchronus means students will engage in course activities at a specific date/time. This means everyone will be required to be online for this as it is a daily, scheduled event.

Attendence is how we ensure participation and learning is taking place. Students will work primarily in SeeSaw, which is a learning application. A teacher will send an invitation with a link, in an email to families. Watch the video below to learn more.

Assignments will be given through the app. When the teacher posts something new in SeeSaw, families can be notified via app notification, email or SMS. Watch the video below to see how to help your child set up SeeSaw for their learning.
