  • Welcome Back - July 30, 2020

    July 30, 2020

    Hello Team Mansfield Families,

Welcome to 7th grade and Team Mansfield! Our team consists of: Mr. Shepley (Science), Mrs. Petralia (Math), Ms. Faulkner (Humanities), and Mr. Van Duyn (Special Education).

We hope that you are finding time to relax and enjoy summer.

As you are aware, Essex Westford School District will be reopening using a hybrid model. We recognize that this news evokes a range of emotions, but please know that we are looking forward to seeing you in whatever way you choose to engage in school this year.

We are the Mansfield Team, and we are ready for any adventure or challenge we face! There is still much to be figured out, but we do have some information to share with you at this point.

As some of you may know, the hybrid model consists of part time in-person instruction, supplemented with virtual learning.

A group of students will have in-person classes Monday and Tuesday, with virtual learning Wednesday through Friday. The other group of students will have in-person instruction Thursday and Friday, and participate in learning virtually Monday through Wednesday.

Full virtual learning is also an option for those who request it. An email was sent Saturday, July 25th, with a link to survey families about which structure they would prefer for their student(s). Please complete this as soon as you can, so student groups and schedules can be made.

To ensure that we begin our year on a positive note, we would like to make all students and families aware that hand-held devices, such as cell phones, will not be permitted at school per our school-wide policy. If a student chooses to bring any of these items to school, we ask that these remain in students’ backpacks until the end of the day.

For in-person instruction, there will not be lockers available this year, but personal storage will be provided based on room assignment.

Additionally, each student will receive a mask to wear during the school day. We ask that students practice and familiarize themselves with wearing one, as it will be an expectation throughout the school day. Please contact the school nurse if you need to make other arrangements due to health concerns.

Unfortunately, the annual ice cream social is cancelled this year. Homeroom and core class lists will be provided on the first day of school September 8th. Below is a list of supplies we would like students to have to start the year off. If you are unable to obtain any of these supplies, please let us know and we will work with you.
