Hi Families, 

My name is Rachel Manz and I teach first grade at Summit Street School. I have been at Summit since 2012 and have loved every minute! This is a special place to come everyday because we have a lot of fun learning and playing together.

 I grew up in Vermont, went away to upstate New York for college at St. Lawrence University, where I majored in neuroscience (the study of learning and the brain). I came back after college and continued right on to Saint Michael's College to earn a Masters Degree in Education, with a focus on reading. I've worked in schools since 2004. 

 My passions within teaching are reading, science, and getting to know each student!  

Outside of school my husband and I enjoy playing with our pets, Millie and Batilda, who are named after Harry Potter characters. I love reading, hiking, gardening, and cooking (and especially doing any of these with my family!)
