Hiawatha Library's Mission

  • Think, Create, Share, Grow

The mission of our school libraries is to create inviting learning environments that inspire and honor curiosity, creativity, and collaboration.

In partnership with students and staff, we support and recognize reading as the foundation for students to become skilled in multiple literacies. We strive to ensure that students become successful lifelong learners.

Library News

  • November and December Classes

Posted by Kathy Lawrence on 10/31/2019 6:30:00 AM

In November our second graders and kindergarteners will work on coding with Mr. Tamayo and myself in the library.  We'll be using our beebots and ozobots and the Robot Turtles card game to work with the foundations of computer coding.

First graders will explore a bit of history with a Then and Now mini-unit featuring literature and some hands-on learning of American handicrafts.

In December the first and third graders will build upon the coding work they did in the past as well.

Older students will work with two new resources over the next two months--World Book Online, and the Sora app for ebooks and audiobooks.
