    Dear ADL Parents and Caregivers,

I hope all of our families enjoyed the summer weather this past weekend.  The building will be warm these next few days.  Students are encouraged to bring water bottles to refill throughout the day to stay hydrated. I have a few important notes to share with you for this upcoming week:

    • On Monday, September 25, we will be kicking off the Winter Olympics at ADL.  Throughout the school year, all of our students and staff will be competing in friendly games and activities designed to engage the mind and promote team-building, sportsmanship, and school spirit.  See this video created by ADL Olympic Committee member Caitlin Classen for a preview of the fun in store for our Chargers this year!

    • Students will be dismissed at noon on Monday, September 25 for in-service.  ADL teachers will be engaging in the visioning process for our new district with our EWSD colleagues.

    • Our ADL Open House is this Thursday, September 28 from 6:30-7:30.  See this link for information about the schedule for this evening.  In addition to meeting your child’s teachers, there will be representatives from a few organizations that may be of interest to families.  These include Voices for Education, Vermont Student Assistance Corporation, and our PAWS( Positive Adults Working to Support ADL) group.

    • We are making changes to our JumpRope grading and reporting system in order to improve parents’ and students’ experiences with this tool.  Teachers cannot currently access the system to enter student work scores, and thus our first progress report originally scheduled to be sent home this Thursday, will be postponed. A more comprehensive letter describing the changes will be forthcoming.

I look forward to seeing many of you at the Open House later this week.  Have a great week!

    Jennifer Wood
