Our Hiawatha Vision Statement

We believe that we are a community of students, families and educators who bring beliefs, skills, needs, and values to create a learning environment where expectations are high and attainable.

We cultivate creative thinkers and recognize the importance of the arts in nurturing the whole child, wherein children can learn and experience academic and social success, through a love of learning and personal responsibility.

Hiawatha Principal

I grew up in Virginia Beach, Virginia and this is where my parents still live.

My husband and I live in Burlington with our son. We love the water, cooking great meals with family and friends, and being outdoors.

I told my mother I wanted to be a teacher for the first time when I was five years old.

All my life I have had a true love for learning, helping others, and children. Becoming the principal of Hiawatha has been a true gift. I am beyond lucky to be part of an amazing community of teachers, students and families.

Hi there, I'm Michelle! I'm the Office Manager here at Hiawatha.

I love spending time with my family. I enjoy a good book, watching a movie, listening to music, visiting with friends, going for walks, and traveling. In my spare time I volunteer at the Flynn Theater as an usher to enjoy my love of theater!

I am so grateful to be a part of this wonderful school and community! I'm looking forward to helping you!
