Read-Aloud Lunch Started on 10/29!
Our 5th Grade Read-Aloud Lunch Program started at the end of October! We have 84 5th graders signed up. All are enjoying the book and have been doing a great job being responsible in the hallways. They are a group of terrific listeners!
Fall Learning in the Library
Students have been busy in the library! Here's a highlight reel of the past month and a half:
- 3rd graders have learned about how to search the library catalog for books that interest them. They have also learned how to get around 3 new library sections: Picture Books (PB), E for Everyone (E) and the Folk and Fairy Tale Section (FT).
- 4th and 5th graders have reviewed library catalog skills. They have learned about Sora, the new listening app from our digital audio provider, OverDrive. They are learning how to use power search to find just-right books and curate personalized reading lists.
- Several 5th grade classes have visited the library to examine books of different genres, and categorize them by important characteristics. In addition, other classes have visited the library to launch their book clubs by listening to book talks and coming to group consensus to determine their group choice.
