EHS School Counseling Team

  • EHS School Counseling Team

The goal of the school counseling program at Essex High School is to enhance the learning process for all students through academic, career, and social/emotional support.

The school counseling program is a collaborative effort between the school counselor, student, parents, and other educators to create an environment that promotes student achievement.

  • File your FAFSA in October

Governor Phil Scott has proclaimed October as FAFSA Filing Month, setting a statewide goal of having 65 percent of seniors complete the FAFSA. The earlier you file, the more opportunities you have for financial aid and making education decisions that fit your career goals – and your pocketbook.

Special added bonus: Any senior who completes the FAFSA by Oct. 31 could win a $1,000 scholarship from UVM, the Vermont State Colleges, Sterling College or Southern Vermont College, when they enroll.

If you’re looking for some extra assistance, VSAC is hosting FAFSA Fridays (and some Thursday nights, too!) where you can call or walk in and get 1:1 personal assistance with one of their trained financial aid advisors. Once you finish the FAFSA, it’s only a few clicks to apply for a Vermont state grant.

Last but not least: Our school could also win $1,000 from VSAC for a senior class activity if we get 70 percent or more of our seniors to complete the FAFSA before May 1. Wouldn’t that be great for a year-end or graduation event?
