FMS Welcome Letter for Families 2022-23

August 3, 2022

Dear Founders Memorial School Families,

I am thrilled to welcome you to the 2022-23 school year! I am honored to be returning as principal of this wonderful school community. I am fortunate to work alongside an amazing staff who, through their great efforts, will ensure all students have a positive, enriching, exciting and fun learning experience this year.

Our school has been a busy place this summer as we prepare for our students to return. Our maintenance and custodial staff have been painting, cleaning, moving, waxing and more. Our teachers have been participating in professional learning and getting classrooms and learning spaces ready. We can’t wait to fill our building with children!

In this letter you will find important information about our school operations. Please review this information carefully and contact our front office if you have any questions. There are a few important forms to fill out, linked below. Thank you for your attention to this, it helps our first days and weeks go very smoothly!

I look forward to meeting you and welcoming your students to school at FMS for the new school year.

Child Nutrition Update

Students need healthy meals to learn and the Essex Westford School District offers healthy meals every school day. During the 2022-23 school year all students will receive free breakfast and lunch at school.  The state of Vermont has provided money to do this for one year through the Universal School Meals Act.

We need your help to keep providing free meals to all students in future years though! Please fill out this application for free and reduced price school meals. The more families that fill out and return this form, the more money the EWSD will receive from the federal government for free school meals now and in the future. Filling out this form also helps our community provide free summer meals to all kids, and free meals to kids in childcare. If you have any questions or need a hard copy of the application, please contact Scott Fay,, or 802-857-7263.
