Unified Sports Teams Seeks to Add Players!

February 11, 2020 - The Unified Sports Team will begin practices for basketball and bocce on March 12.

Unified Sports is an amazing program associated with Special Olympics that strives to create opportunities for students with and without disabilities to participate together on inclusive, interscholastic sports teams. We would love to increase participation.

If your child wishes to participate, please let Mr. McQuade know before leaving for February break.

This year, the unified team will be practicing for both sports throughout the spring. This will allow the team to participate in both the basketball and bocce competitions this spring on May 1st and 21st respectively!.

Practices will take place every Thursday from 3-4 in the Essex Middle School Gym starting on March 12th.

Students will need to be picked up at 4 by their parents, guardians, or another designated adult (permission in writing or email).

The plan is to start with basketball and then move outside for bocce based on the weather. In addition, we are planning to scrimmage ADL in April.

If your child participated on the unified bowling team this year, your paperwork is complete.  Otherwise, you will need to let Mr. McQuade know you are interested and pick up a registration packet before Feb. break.

If you have any questions or need help with the paperwork, please feel free to email either coach: Janet Battaile at jbattaile@ewsd.org, or call 802-879-7173 x1565, or April Lambert at alambert@ewsd.org
