EHS Students Perform at New England Music Festival

The New England Music Festival was held in Woodstock, Connecticut on March 21st to the 23rd. Justin Lee, Grace Lu, Elizabeth Messier, Isabelle Petrucci, Henry Wu and Nathan Wu of the Essex High School Orchestra were selected by audition to perform with the 100 member Festival Orchestra. During the course of three days, the orchestra prepared a program of works all by american composers. Dr. Kathleen Horvath of Case Western University directed the orchestra in the performance of “Dance Rhythms” by Riegger, Symphony No. 2 by Hanson, and Hoe Down from “Rodeo” by Copland.

Special congratulations to violinist Nathan Wu who received the highest rated string audition and was invited to play his solo for the festival concert. His performance of the third movement of Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto in E minor received raucous and extended applause.
