Galaxy letter

Greetings students and families,

Thank you for an amazing ending to our 7th grade year together. We hope you all have a relaxing summer. We hope the following information will help prepare you for our upcoming year together. As you settle into a summer routine, here are a few things to think about: try to read a little each day (Phoenix books is having a summer reading challenge), try to write a little each day, and find some time to relax.

We will follow the same structure next year, with the same adults on the Galaxy team.  You will also have your chromebooks assigned to use during the school year.  The cell phone policy stands where students are not to be on their phones from 8:15am - 3:15pm daily.  If parents need to contact their child during the school day, they should either email or contact the front office.

One item to keep in the back of your mind is that our schedule will be shifting a bit next year to accommodate Algebra at the start of the day.  This impacts our core class time, and pushes our Social Studies class to the end of the day, which will conflict with band/chorus/orchestra for a few students that are involved in more than one music option. If they are in one music option, they will miss some days of SS.

Again, we’re excited about the new year, and we hope you are, too. If you have any burning questions , absolutely reach out to us. But, really, most concerns we’ll be able to work with during our first days together. For example, homerooms. Don’t worry, we’ll steer students in the right direction as they enter the building on Day 1. Class schedule? Yep, we’ll take care of that on the first day, too. No need to consternate unnecessarily.

Enjoy the rest of your summer. We look forward to the fall!

Hello! I am joining team Galaxy after 8 years teaching high school. I am so excited to begin our journey together. My first career was as a photojournalist and I feel lucky to have a second career that I am equally as passionate about. I have 2 children, one starting his senior year and the other starting her career as a third grade teacher! I am an avid reader and love being outdoors, hiking, gardening, listening to music or relaxing in a hammock with a book (avid reader!) I hope you all have an amazing summer and I can’t wait to see you all in the fall!
