We have been reading about the Westward Expansion, the Pony Express, the building of the Transcontinental Railroad and other historical events during the 1800's. Many of these stories mention the tribal nations and the importance of buffalo. Ms. McCloud, one of our school's paraeducators, stopped into the classroom today to share a narrative written by her grandmother many, many years ago. Students heard stories of life on the prairies during a time when the fields were "black with buffalo." What a nice treat and a fantastic connection to what we've been doing in the classroom. Thank you, Ms. McCloud!
