Library

Welcome to the Hiawatha Elementary School Library!

Mission Statement

Think-Create-Share-Grow

The mission of the EWSD libraries is to create inviting learning environments that inspire and honor curiosity, creativity, and collaboration. In partnership with students and staff, we support and recognize reading as the foundation for students to become skilled in multiple literacies. We strive to ensure that students become successful lifelong learners.

Library Class Schedule 2023-2024

Library Lending

The Hiawatha Library collection is available to all students, staff, and community members. Please see Ms. Snow if you would like to create a family library account.

Circulation

  • All students will begin the school year by borrowing one book per week.

  • Second and third-graders will work toward borrowing up to two books per week.

  • Materials may be renewed unless another patron is waiting.

  • The library is open to students every day, so students may exchange books on their own (with teacher permission) at any time.

Audio and ebooks are available to the school community through our digital Sora collection. Most usernames are first initial and last name. There are some exceptions to this rule. Please see Ms. Snow with any questions.

Library Bill of Rights

The Hiawatha Library adheres to the Library Bill of Rights to ensure our collection provides for all members of our school community.

ECHO Pass

Hiawatha families will pay $7.00 admission per person for up to four people to the ECHO Leahy Center when they present our loaner pass at the entrance. Please get in touch with Ms. Snow if you would like to borrow our loaner pass.

Ms. Snow

Ms. Snow

I started my career in education as a first and second-grade teacher before becoming a librarian and educational technologist. Teaching students how to find and use information responsibly is one of my passions. I also love the challenge of finding books of interest for all students.  See you in the library!
