What will I learn...

Work-based learning including job shadows, career work experiences, and cooperative internship opportunities for students are available with many of CTE's local partnering businesses. Second-year students in the program may be eligible to enroll in the state's Registered Apprenticeship Program for Plumbing or Electrical.

Certifications

Students will earn NCCER Core, OSHA 10, CPR, and First Aid certifications. Students will have the opportunity to earn various NCCER module credits from Plumbing, Electrical, and HVACR and OSHA 30. There is an expectation that they will earn at least 2 or 3 from each discipline. If they have a particular interest, they will be able to concentrate in that area, earning more certifications.

Dual Enrollment

Eligible students may take up to one college course per semester.  These courses are offered through Champlain College, the University of Vermont, and the Community College of Vermont.  

Career Work Experiences

Work-based learning, school-to-work cooperative opportunities, and apprenticeship for students are available with many of CTE's local partnering businesses.

What's Next / Employment in the Field

Students completing this program and who are interested in pursuing a career in the field may enter the workforce or pursue postsecondary education and training.  Some students may enroll in licensed apprenticeship courses of study for electricians and plumbers accredited through the Vermont Department of Labor.
