Year One:

The Computer Systems Technology Program prepares students to enter a career in computer support as part of an Information Technology team. In year one of this program, students learn how to install, configure, and troubleshoot PC hardware and operating systems. The school year is split into core one (which includes topics such as electrical engineering, computing hardware, virtualization, and networking) and core two (which focuses on system administration and cyber security); all of which culminate with the CompTIA A+ certification exam.

Year Two:

In the second-year of the Computer Systems Technology program, students use their knowledge and skills built in year one to dive deeper into network administration and security. The curriculum goes beyond theory, offering real-world applications through placements with the UVM Helpdesk, NuHarbor Security, and OnLogic. The program also includes campus visits, workshops, and dual enrollment courses, giving us early exposure to college-level work and insight into professional careers. These opportunities have helped us build valuable skills, connect with industry professionals, and stay current with the latest advancements in computer technology.

Plus, year two takes on an additional industry-recognized credential - CompTIA Network+, which gives us an even better competitive edge in the job market. It’s an exciting blend of learning and professional development that prepares us for successful careers in tech!
