Essex High School is a public secondary school enrolling approximately 1,258 students in grades 9 through 12.

Essex High School is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges and approved by the Vermont Department of Education and holds membership in The College Board, the National Association for College Admissions Counseling (NACAC), the New England Association for College Admission Counseling (NEACAC), and the New England Secondary School Consortium (NESSC) League of Innovative Schools. All counselors are members of the Vermont School Counselor Association (VTSCA) and the American School Counseling Association (ASCA).
