Students working in the library

This year, the FMS school community has been buzzing with energy, responsibility, and a whole lot of student leadership.

As part of its ongoing PBIS efforts, FMS has continued to grow its student jobs program, which is an initiative designed to give students meaningful opportunities beyond the classroom. These roles help students build connections with peers and adults, contribute to the school community, and develop a strong sense of ownership in their environment.

When FMS introduced its schoolwide SEL theme of Responsibility in October, student jobs became a natural way for students to put that learning into action.

The response has been incredible, with over 230 job applications submitted this year! Most of those applicants were ‘hired’ and trained, and are making an impact all around the building. Whether it’s a student trying something new, collaborating with others, or finding a way to shine, these roles have become an important part of the school culture.

Student jobs have also proven to be a powerful motivator, especially for students who may need an extra boost. They provide a chance to feel productive, valued, and connected, all while making the school a better place for everyone.

FMS is so proud of the students for embracing responsibility and helping the community thrive!
