Hello! My name is Amanda Biggs and I am so excited to serve the FMS community in the role of School Librarian. I've lived in Vermont for 20 years, and have been a book worm my entire life. I hold a special place in my heart for picture books, graphic novels, and fantasy fiction books, so I feel right at home in the FMS library. Children's books and literacy are my passions and I am grateful for every day I get to share this love with kids.
Recently, I completed coursework to obtain my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in School Library Media Science from The University of Vermont, and will graduate in May of 2023. Outside of the library, I keep busy in my home town of Underhill with my husband and two very active young daughters (who all love to read). I also teach dance at a local performing arts studio in the evenings.
I firmly believe that books have the ability to help us create connections and foster a deep sense of community and belonging. I look forward to building a culture of literacy where all students have a safe space to grow and learn, while they develop a lifelong love of reading and information seeking.
Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or suggestions!
