The Heavenly Food Pantry, located at the First Congregational Church on Main Street in Essex Junction, will be open to families residing in Essex, Essex Junction, and Westford on Monday, July 10, from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Beginning at 5:30, families arriving will be given a number and asked to wait in the sanctuary to be called downstairs to register. After registration, they will be escorted by a volunteer to the pantry for food, allowing them to make selections of their choosing. After food is gathered, it will be weighed (information for pantry use only) and another volunteer will bring the food to the family’s vehicle. Shopping carts will be made available for those within walking distance of the pantry.
As usual, there are no income requirements to visit the food pantry and a variety of food is available to everyone; however, additional food is provided by the USDA to eligible families who fall below federally mandated guidelines. This additional food is available to families once a month. Families not able to attend the pantry may call the Church office at 878-5745 between 9 a.m. and noon today or Monday to leave contact information so arrangements for delivery can be made. Families are currently able to visit the pantry each time it is open on the 2nd Monday of the month from 5:30-7:30 p.m. and the 4th Thursday of the month from 2-6 p.m. (except for November and December when it is the 3rd Thursday). The next food pantry distribution will occur on Thursday, July 27, from 2-6 p.m.

Six juniors in CTE's Health Professions program have been accepted into CCV's Early College program! Students will spend their senior year of high school enrolled as full-time college students at CCV. Students plan to major in Health Science, Behavioral Science, and STEM programs at CCV. 👏👏 #EWSD

** Please be advised ... On Thursday, June 29 the Essex Police Department will be holding an annual training session at Essex High School between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. There will be training signs posted outside of the building for this planned event.

CTE Forestry & Horticulture program competed in an interscholastic chainsaw competition. They had three participating competitors, Liam Moulton, Cary Longley, and Henry Engelberth. After a suspenseful first round against 60 other students, Liam and Cary placed in the top ten, allowing them to compete in the final round. Cary finished in first place and won a brand-new chainsaw! Congratulations to Cary, Liam, and Henry!

After food is gathered, it will be weighed (information for pantry use only) and another volunteer will bring the food to the family’s vehicle.
