EHS Global Citizens Travel Program trip

During April break, 25 students and 4 EHS faculty members traveled to the Dominican Republic for a service-learning trip. Their journey began in Santo Domingo, then continued to the central region of the country, and ended in Santiago.

While in the central mountain town of Jarabacoa, students worked alongside students at the Environment & Natural Resources Technical Institute, where they helped plant trees, clean nature trails, and built a structure to support the institute’s environmental efforts.

The group then traveled to the Mariposa DR Foundation Center for Girls in Cabarete. The Mariposa school’s mission is “to provide sustainable solutions to end generational poverty by educating girls to become empowered young women...” Through cultural immersion, community service, and meaningful connections, the trip became a life-changing experience that broadened students’ understanding of global needs, service, and compassion.
