EMS New Fitness Center

On Friday, October 20, Essex Middle School (EMS) unveiled its brand new fitness center with a ribbon-cutting ceremony taking place at the school. EMS was one of only three schools in Vermont selected as the stateโ€™s most outstanding schools for demonstrating leadership in getting and keeping their students fit. With that honor, the school received a fitness center grant of $100,000 from the National Foundation for Governorsโ€™ Fitness Councils (NFGFC).

NFGFC Chairman Jake Steinfeld took part in the ribbon-cutting, along with EMS students and staff.

Governor Scott signed a proclamation declaring October as โ€œDONโ€™T QUIT! Fitness Month.โ€ During โ€œDONโ€™T QUIT! Fitness Month,โ€ families and communities are encouraged to renew their commitment to making physical activity and healthy eating part of their childrenโ€™s daily lives. The NFGFCโ€™s goal is to build a nation of the fittest, healthiest kids in the world.
