All teachers are incredible assets to our students, and their work is valued. Due to reductions in force, it is important to be sensitive to this information and how we discuss it. Many valued employees are not returning to serve our students at a time when so much is uncertain.
School assignments consider numerous factors, including program needs, teacher expertise, and our goal of maintaining consistency in staffing for all EWSD students. The intent is to maximize the positive impact each teacher can have on our educational community while acknowledging the challenges of sharing staff across schools. Students will always be prioritized, and the negotiated agreement will be followed.
Art:
Amanda Feller will have a split assignment: 0.2 FTE at Westford, where she will be on Mondays, and 0.8 FTE at Hiawatha.
Physical Education:
Seth McQuade will also have a shared role: 0.6 FTE at Westford and 0.4 FTE at Hiawatha, with Mondays and Wednesdays spent at Hiawatha and a split day on Thursdays.
Music:
Becky Nowak is assigned to EMS at a 1.0 FTE teaching general music.
Alaria Doane, currently teaching at Summit Street School, has been assigned to Westford as a .6 music FTE teacher. She is excited to join Westford and has ties to our community. Library:
Beth Shelley is assigned 0.6 FTE at Westford on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays.
