Welcome to EWSD!
-
Thank you for joining the EWSD team! As you begin your employment with our district, there are a number of steps that must be completed (outlined below). Here you will also find resources and helpful tips as you move through the process.
New to EWSD? Here's what to expect:
-
Create a Frontline Central Account
You will receive an email invitation to join Frontline Central, our HR system for forms and employee record tracking. Please refer to the Quick Start Guide to get your account set up and access your EWSD forms. Be sure to make a note of your username and password as these will be used to access your timecard and leave request system once you begin working.
Please also review the Frontline Central tips and tricks.
-
Complete Your Background Check Authorization
You will receive an email with information about the background check process as well as a link to complete authorization forms (the required information may vary depending on your role). Please be sure to schedule your fingerprint appointment (if required) as soon as possible.
Please also review the EWSD background check process and the policy on the maintenance and destruction of information at Employment > Onboarding > Background Checks.
-
Schedule Your Fingerprint Appointment
Once you have received an email that your Fingerprint Authorization Form is "submitted," you can then log back into Frontline Central and navigate to the form. Toggle the top right button on to "Display Sensitive Info" before printing the form.
PLEASE NOTE: You should call to schedule this appointment prior to your first day of work, though depending on appointment availability it may take some time to get this completed. You must bring the printed Fingerprint Authorization Certificate with you to your fingerprint appointment!
-
Complete Your Employment Paperwork
You will also receive a New Hire Forms Packet from Frontline Central (contents will vary depending on your position, though minimally it will include the I-9 and W4).
Please complete and submit all assigned forms.
-
Complete Your I-9 Form, Get ID Badge Photo Taken
To complete your HR paperwork process, a member from the HR team will reach out to you to schedule an appointment to visit our HR office at 51 Park Street in Essex Junction.
You will need to bring two forms of identification with you to complete your I-9 paperwork.
Our HR team will also take a photo of you for your EWSD identification badge (issued to all EWSD employees with the exception of our substitutes). This will be issued asap and you will be required to wear it whenever you are working, per our ID Badge Protocol. You must review and comply with this policy.
Most staff will receive both a photo ID badge as well as a security badge (white with small printed numbers on the back). The security badge allows access to select building locations around the district. For hourly employees, this may also be used at any timeclock kiosk to clock in or out.
-
Apply for Parking Permit
EWSD employees who work in the buildings throughout the school year and during the school day should apply for a parking permit if they will be parking a vehicle onsite. The request form can be found using this link. A permit will be issued to display inside the vehicle when parking on district property.
-
Review Master Agreement (if applicable)
A copy of the EWSD collective bargaining agreements can be found here for your review.
Please note that teachers new to our district are expected to work up to an additional two (2) days during their first year (for mentoring, orientation and classroom setup), per the master agreement Article 8.2.
-
Select Your Benefit Options
All employees are eligible to participate in the Retirement Plan (403(b) Universal Availability Notice and 403(b) Summary Plan Description) and have access to the Employee Assistance Program.
Employees who are eligible for benefits (per their master agreements) will receive additional information about the benefit plans as well as enrollment forms through Frontline Central to sign up for any applicable benefits. Check out our Benefits Summary.
Once you have received your EWSD email, you will also have access to the employee intranet for additional benefit details and plan documents at Connector > Human Resources > Benefits (you must be logged into the EWSD website to view this page).
If you have additional questions about your benefit package, please contact Sandy Emery at semery@ewsd.org.
-
Set Up Your EWSD Email Account
All EWSD employees will be issued an EWSD email address. Please be sure to create and regularly check this account, as our district office and schools use this to send out key communications.
Employees will receive an email to their home/personal email with instructions for setting up their EWSD work email account on Gmail.
Employees will also receive access to the EWSD Intranet and may sign in using the Sign In button at the top right of the district site using their EWSD Google (email) account. This will provide access to an additional site tab, Connector, where they will find more information for employees about the district's internal departments.
-
Review EWSD Policies: Code of Conduct, Harassment
Please carefully read the EWSD Staff Behavior Code of Conduct and district Policy on Employee Harassment.
If you have any questions, please reach out to your supervisor or the HR team. It is an expectation of EWSD that all employees will abide by the expectations outlined in these policies.
-
Review User Guides for Frontline
Please review the system user guides found on our Frontline page (note that the Frontline page is only available after access has been granted to the EWSD Connector and can be found under Human Resources > Employee Resources > Frontline).
We recommend all employees review the Frontline Absence Management overview video (16:32). Teachers and other instructors should also review the Preparing for a Sub video (14:00).
Substitutes may find information about Frontline under Employment > Employee Resources under the Seasonal/Temp/Substitute Additional Resources section in the folder "EWSD Substitutes."
-
Complete Mandatory Trainings
Please be sure to complete your assigned Mandatory Trainings (through the Vector Solutions system) within 30 days of your start date. More information can be found on the EWSD website under Employment > Employee Resources > Mandatory Trainings.
*Please note that mandatory trainings have been suspended as of May 11, 2022, and will not be available to complete until the new year's courses are published on July 1, 2022.*
