Vote for Eric! | Award Ceremony Video
Eric, a fifth-grade student at Thomas Fleming, is gaining national attention after being named one of just five finalists in the 17th annual Doodle for Google competition.
Eric was selected from thousands of entries nationwide for his creative interpretation of this year’s theme, “My superpower is …” His artwork highlights his passion for sports and the connections they create.
“My superpower is excelling at sports,” Eric shared. “I drew eight different sports, baseball, fishing, basketball, volleyball, soccer, racing, hockey, and surfing, which are some of the most popular in the world. Sports are more than a game; they create friendships, communities, and opportunities, which is why I love them so much!”
As a national finalist, Eric has already earned a $10,000 college scholarship, along with a Chromebook and a hometown celebration. His artwork is also in the running to be featured on the Google homepage, a distinction seen by millions around the world.
The final phase of the competition now shifts to public voting, and community support will play a critical role in determining the winner. Voting is open from April 16 through April 29 on the Doodle for Google website. Supporters are encouraged to view the finalists’ artwork and cast their vote for Eric.
If selected as the national winner, Eric would receive a total of $55,000 in scholarships, and Thomas Fleming School would be awarded a $50,000 technology package.
The national winner will be announced on May 12.
