Today is the last day of Semester 1/Quarter 2!
Mid-Term Assessments are next week. Monday 1/13 will be A 1/2 at 8:45 am and then A 3/4 at 11:45 am.
Essex High School students Emma Airoldi, Jonathan McNamara, and Jacob Shevchik received congressional nominations to be members of the Class of 2029 at the United States Service Academies. Sen. Bernie Sanders, Sen. Peter Welch, and Rep. Becca Balint recognized twenty Vermonters during an annual reception at the Vermont State House. Before the ceremony, nominees and current Service Academy students were invited to a roundtable discussion.
The five U.S. military academies include the Military Academy at West Point, the Naval Academy, the Air Force Academy, the Coast Guard Academy, and the Merchant Marine Academy. As part of the application requirements, applicants to U.S. Service Academies must receive a nomination.
The Heavenly Food Pantry, located at the First Congregational Church on Main Street in Essex Junction, will be open to families residing in Essex, Essex Junction, and Westford on Monday, January 13, from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
As usual, there are no income requirements to visit the food pantry and a variety of food is
available to everyone; however, additional food is provided by the USDA to eligible households who fall below federally mandated guidelines. Visits to the pantry are now limited to one per household per calendar month.
The next food pantry distribution will be Thursday, January 23.
Lost and found tables are out in the main lobby. Please take a look to see if you are missing anything.
Valuables such as jewelry and electronics can be found in the main office.
All items will be donated at the end of Mid-Term Assessment week.

8th Grade Caregiver/Student Night will be held from 6:00 pm-7:00 pm. Caregivers and current 8th graders are welcome to attend to find out more information all things EHS.
EHS AP Environmental Science students buried articles of clothing and compostable plates for 60 days to better understand soil health and the decomposition activity of billions of microbes that live in our soils. In fact, one teaspoon of healthy soil contains more microbes than there are people on the planet. In addition to chowing down on organic matter like cotton, they also help soil resist erosion, cycle nutrients, and store water.
The #EWSD Board will next meet on Tues., Jan. 7 starting at 6:30 p.m. The full meeting will be available to watch on Facebook Live thanks to the Media Factory (https://www.facebook.com/BTVMediaFactory).

EHS Student Government is excited to announce that this year's Winter Ball will be held on January 19th! Join us in The Farm House at The Essex for a night of Twinkling Lights! Ticket sales begin January 8th during all lunches outside the cafeteria. Tickets are $30.
Tickets for the EHS Winter Ball will be on sale outside the cafeteria during the following dates and times:
January 8th, 9th, and 10th during all lunches.
January 14, 15, 16 between exams from 10:45 AM to 11:30 AM.
Cash or check accepted, made payable to EWSD.
This year, there are only 400 tickets that are being sold. This means that if you’re looking to go to the ball, you should try to buy tickets early. Tickets are available on a first-come first-serve basis. All tickets are NON-TRANSFERABLE, meaning the person who buys the ticket is the only person who can use it. Do not buy tickets from anyone other than the Student Government at the above ticket sales.
Those who wish to bring non-EHS students must complete the Guest Application Form before purchasing tickets. The guest must be a current high school student or a graduate from EHS from last year. Please go to the Main Office to pick up a form. All signatures need to be completed on the Guest Application Form before purchasing tickets.
The Winter Ball will be held on January 19th, 2025 at The Farm House at The Essex, 70 Essex Way! Doors will open between 8 PM - 9 PM. Light fare, beverages, and photobooth are included in the ticket price.

Workshop Auditions Tuesday 1/7 or Thursday 1/9 3:30 pm -6:00 pm in the Auditorium.

Stress relief tips for mid-term assessments coming up January 13th- January 16th!
Michael Paquette visited AVPA students to share his inspiring journey with sound and design and creating custom music. Michael has helped create music for many mainstream movies and shows, including Avengers: Civil War, and the Netflix series Stranger Things.
Essex High School Class of 2024 graduates were welcomed back to EHS to share their first-semester college experiences with our seniors.

Essex High School senior band student Hailey Messier was selected as one of Vermont's 2025 Presidential Scholars in the arts. Students are chosen for demonstrating artistic excellence and a commitment to the arts. Hailey will be featured as a senior soloist on piano with the Vermont Youth Orchestra in a performance at the Double E Performance center on Sunday, February 2nd.
