VTCAP Testing begins on Monday, March 17.
Students in grades 9 and 11 will participate in the VTCAP state assessments (Wednesday, March 19, will be a regular early release schedule). 9th graders will take 2-part ELA and Math assessments, while 11th graders will take a 2-part Science assessment.
Shared EHS and CTE students are expected to attend their EHS academic class during block 1/2 on testing days.
Please note there is an adjusted schedule this week. Non-testing students in grades 10 and 12 will have a late start on the four testing days. The 10th grade VSAC Career and College Field Trip is Thursday morning (March 20), so 10th grade students should report to the gym by 8:30 a.m.

EHS Theater's production of Clue is in need of some items they are struggling to find. A loveseat (preferably on wheels), a set of 7 matching dining chairs, 2 lightweight sitting chairs. For furniture, it should reflect 1950's vintage mansion.
As well as an XL black duffle bag with zipper (that looks like it could have been around in the 1950's).
If you know of anyone who would be willing to donate or loan these items to us for our March 27 - 30th production, please get in contact with Brit Flynn bflynn@ewsd.org
Thank you!

At its meeting on February 18, the EWSD Board approved a budget that will be put forth for a community vote on Tuesday, April 8. With rising property taxes, ongoing statewide financial challenges, and declining enrollment, the Board asked the administration to maintain the same level of net spending as FY25, but with rising costs, we have had to make some difficult decisions. Holden prepared for the premiere of his new music by taking part in rehearsals with professional musicians, attending workshops by special guest presenters, and being interviewed for a documentary compiled by LCATV.
Join us for the culmination of all this hard work at Elley Long Music Center in Colchester, VT. The Opus 39 concert is free and open to the public. Special 30th Anniversary Donor Seats can be reserved online. Visit Music-Comp online for more information: https://music-comp.org/opus-39

Senior Cameron Stultz was named a candidate in the 2025 U.S. Presidential Scholars Program from the U.S. Department of Education and the Commission on Presidential Scholars.
Approximately 600 candidates are named semi-finalists. In April, the White House Commission on Presidential Scholars will review the applications of all semifinalists, applying the same criteria used by the review committee, to select up to 161 U.S. Presidential Scholars for this year.

Get ready to dodge, duck, dip, dive, and have a blast! The Annual Essex High School Dodgeball Tournament is back on Tuesday, March 11, from 3:30 to 5:30 PM, and we want YOU to be part of it!
This year, Student Government has revamped the tournament with a fresh, more inclusive approach. After working closely with our school equity team, we realized that past participation may have been limited due to the way teams were formed. To make the event more accessible to everyone, teams will now be created within advisories, ensuring a diverse mix of players who already know and support each other.
The Dodgeball Tournament is a long-standing tradition at EHS. We encourage you to sign up, rally your advisory, and get involved in this fun and spirited event. Only a minimum of SIX students in an advisory are required to be a team. Letβs make this yearβs tournament the best one yet! The winning team will be awarded a tournament trophy.
If you have any questions or want to learn more, feel free to reach out to Student Government advisors Charlie Burnett at cburnett@ewsd.org or Barb Isham at bisham@ewsd.org. We canβt wait to see you on the court!
