Essex High School is holding its fifth-annual gift card fundraiser to help support some of our families with accessing essential goods, such as clothing, for the cold winter months in Vermont.
This can be a hard time of year for families and we recognize that it may not be possible for some families to donate at this time.
If it is within your means, please consider purchasing a gift card to donate to support students and families this winter.
What type of gift card would work best? A gift card to a store that sells a variety of goods can be optimal to support families with accessing essentials such as food and clothing. Target and Walmart have been cited as preferences in the past, and please know that any gift card is welcome and appreciated.
Where to bring them? Gift cards can be dropped off at the Essex High School Safety Office (located just inside the first door of the main entrance) or can be mailed to Essex High School Counseling Office, ATTN: Allie Short, 2 Educational Drive, Essex Junction, Vermont 05452 from now until the end of the school day on January 19, 2024. Our EHS Student Assistance Program Coordinator/Counselor will confidentially coordinate assistance to EHS students and families in need.
This fundraising effort has been successful in the past in providing much needed essentials to students and families- in one past school year more than 30 students benefited from your donations! Thank you for your generosity in past years and thanks for considering your fellow EHS families throughout the next few weeks!

The Heavenly Food Pantry, located at the First Congregational Church on Main Street in Essex Junction, will be open to families residing in Essex, Essex Junction, and Westford on Monday, November 13, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Families will be given a number when they arrive and asked to wait in the sanctuary. When their number is called, they will be registered beginning at 5:30. A volunteer will greet and escort them around the pantry, allowing them to make selections of their choosing. After food is gathered, it will be weighed (information for pantry use only) and another volunteer will bring the food to the family’s vehicle. Shopping carts will be made available for those within walking distance of the pantry. The pantry asks for proof of residence for each household in the form of a current utility bill with a physical address listed. In lieu of this, families may provide current correspondence from a government agency or other official mail. Identification for each household member may consist of a driver’s license, hospital card, insurance card, school-issued ID, social security ID, or birth certificate.
As usual, there are no income requirements to visit the food pantry and a variety of food is available to everyone; however, eligible families who fall below federally mandated guidelines may access additional food provided by the USDA once each month. Families not able to attend the pantry may call the Church office at 878-5745 between 9:00 a.m. and noon today and Monday to leave contact information (name, address, phone number, number of people in the household) so arrangements for delivery can be made. A follow-up call to complete registration will take place on Monday morning. Families are currently able to visit the pantry each time it is open the 2nd Monday of the month from 5:30-7:30 p.m. and the 4th Thursday of the month from 2:00-6:00 p.m. (except for November and December when it is the 3rd Thursday).
The next food pantry distribution will occur on Thursday, November 16, from 2:00-6:00 p.m. Please note that the Thursday distribution has been adjusted due to the Thanksgiving holiday.

The EHS Store will be open for a few dates starting tomorrow. At this time the only dates and times for the public will be Tuesday, November 14th, and Friday, November 17th from 3:15-4:00 pm
All dates will be open for staff and students during block 5/6.
