The Heavenly Food Pantry, located at the First Congregational Church on Main Street in Essex Junction will be open to families residing in Essex, Essex Junction, and Westford on Monday, August 14, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Families arriving through the front door will be given a number and asked to wait in the sanctuary for their number to be called, when they will be registered downstairs and then matched up with a volunteer who will help them make their food choices. After the food is gathered, it will be weighed (information for pantry use only) and another volunteer will bring the food to the family’s vehicle. Shopping carts will be made available for those within walking distance of the pantry. As usual, there are no income requirements to visit the food pantry and a variety of food is available to everyone; however, additional food is provided by the USDA to eligible once a month to families who fall below federally mandated guidelines. Families not able to attend the pantry may call the Church office at 878-5745 between 9:00 and noon today and Monday to leave contact information so arrangements for delivery can be made. Follow-up calls to complete registration will be made Monday morning. Families are currently able to visit the pantry each time it is open on the 2nd Monday of the month from 5:30-7:30 p.m. and the 4th Thursday of the month from 2:00-6:00 p.m. (except for November and December when it is the 3rd Thursday). The next food pantry distribution will occur on Thursday, August 24 from 2-6 p.m.

If you have questions about Transportation, visit ewsd.org/transportation to check bus schedules and sign up for transportation. Students who are signed up before August 12 will be guaranteed to be assigned to a bus route for the first day of school. All students are required to be signed up by families in order to use District-provided bus routes. No registration is required for use of GMT’s public transit system. The transportation department staff will email families with the route, stop, and time details when students have been added to a bus route.

Essex High School had 73 students in our Summer Sessions: Credit Recovery and How To Be A Hornet. Programs ran from July 5-July 27. Our How To Be A Hornet sessions were for incoming 9th-grade students. Our newest Hornets did the following: Learned how to use PowerSchool, team-building skills, participate in STEM Activities, how to use Google Classroom, learned where their classes are and toured the school, meet some classmates and have fun!
