
EHS junior, Katie Preston, was selected for the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange Scholarship to Germany by the U.S. Department of State and AFS-USA. Preston is one of 250 high school students from across the United States to be awarded for the 2024-2025 academic year. Preston intends to spend the year in Germany living with a host family, attending a German high school, and participating in language learning and cultural immersion training to gain a better understanding of German culture, language, and everyday life.


Hiawatha third graders helped plant a native Swamp Oak in celebration of Arbor Day. The tree was granted to the school through the UVM Extension Greening Schools Program. The Essex Tree Committee assisted in showing the students how to plant, mulch, and water.

Thomas Fleming School invited rising 4th grade students from Hiawatha and Summit to join their PBIS celebration. Fleming students demonstrated their Dance-Off routines, and played the ukulele and school Jeopardy!

Two physical education classes at EHS participated in Green Up Day to help clean up trash in Essex!


The EHS Academy of Visual and Performing Arts students hosted their annual showcase, which included performances and an art exhibit for all to enjoy!



EMS hosted a tree planting and mulching ceremony to commemorate Arbor Day. The Essex Conservation and Trails Committee, along with Full Circle Gardens planted the Hop Hornbeam tree in front of EMS by the sidewalks. The science teachers put together a list of students from each team to represent the student body, who participated in the ceremony by mulching/watering the tree.

EHS senior, Connor Nick, plans to start an apprenticeship in the fall, aiming to become an electrician and possibly an entrepreneur in the future.

EHS student, Anthony Matas, was named winner of the 2024 Dave Schultz High School Excellence Award by the National Wrestling Hall of Fame. This award recognizes and celebrates the nation's most outstanding high school senior male wrestlers for their experience in wrestling, scholastic achievement, citizenship, and community service.

Three FMS third grade classes visited the EHS library to create a green screen movie in the audio/visual room, partnered with EHS students to read, and crafted in the maker space! 🎥📖✂️


The EHS STEM Academy visited the UVM Cancer Center to hear from speakers, tour the labs, and learn about the cancer center's research.

The Global Leadership Program at EHS hosted its senior practicum event. This event is highly interactive, engaging, and focused on the skills and knowledge GLP graduates have gained. The GLP practicum focuses on cross-cultural competence and effective public speaking, led by experts in these fields from the University of Vermont and Quinnipiac University in Connecticut.

Essex Middle School is hosting a Parent Night on Tuesday, May 14 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the EMS Cafeteria. This meeting is intended for only the parents and guardians of rising 6th grade students.


The ADL Rock Band Showcase will be held on Tuesday, May 14 beginning at 7 p.m. at the Double E Performance Center. Get ready to rock at an all-star performance of the more than two dozen 6-8th grade participants in the ADL Rock Band. Tickets are $8 for adults, and free for students 17 and under. All proceeds support ADL band programs.


EHS Theater students invite you to join a character tea party on Saturday, May 18 at 10 a.m. in the Essex High School Cafeteria. Come enjoy tea and treats with the cast of Anastasia! Tickets are $8.


Congrats to EHS senior Max Spaeder for earning a spot on the Vermont team for the Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl and for being honored as the representative from Essex High School to the Vermont Chapter of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame! 👏👏
