🎨 Hiawatha's 3rd-grade artists finished their beautiful fringe-edge weavings, and for the last few art classes, all K-3 students got to use the outdoor classroom to try drawing "en plein air." Plein air is a French word for "in the open air, " meaning drawing nature outside. 🎨 Students briefly learned about the history of the impressionists like Monet. They viewed some of his sketches and then used a viewfinder to find outdoor compositions to sketch. Artists did a fantastic job using their viewfinders and appreciating the nature around them.

Team Equinox at EMS participated in the Trout in the Classroom (TIC) program this year. Through TIC, classrooms get 100 brook trout eggs from the Vermont hatchery in January and they raise them until it is time to release them into a local stream. Along the way, students learn about water quality, fish life cycles, and riparian habitats. Team Equinox successfully raised and released 72 trout into the Browns River on May 28.
